100 WC Week 19

Birthday

"Happy birthday!" My daughter says to me.
Thank you, Angie, now go light the candles." I respond.
Seeing my family happy made it even harder to confess the news.
"I've been told I am supposed to die today." I say in distress.
"Well, blow out your candles. At least we can spend your birthday together." My son, Michael, said to me.
I watch as the flame flickered and then it went out, then I say my goodbyes.
"I love you." I say
"We love you, too." My husband says, then my heartbeat stops.

100 WC Week 18

Sinking

I was home alone wearing my orange pyjamas watching a movie when suddenly it turned pitch black. Silence filled the room and all you could hear were my panicked breaths. Thunder roared as I hurried to my room. Suddenly, water came through the crack in the door and the room was quickly filled with water.  Thoughts swam through my head until I decided to get outside and fast.  The whole city was drenched in water. I took my last breath and said to myself,
"I never should have trusted that lady at the carnival."
Then I started to sink, but I never hit the bottom.

100 WC Week 17

Construction Man

"Ashley, if you reach the top by the end of the day, I'll do your chores for a year." Melanie said to me.
"Deal." I say, determined to reach the top.
I started to climb the stairs, occasionally stopping to stare at the beautiful flowers, then I finally reached the top. I was greeted with a man yelling at the top of his lungs.
"Hey, we're doing construction here!"
"Okay, Okay!" I say petrified and rushed down the stairs.
"Well, Melanie never said anything about having to stay at the top." I say to myself laughing.

100 WC Week 16

Math Test

I was hoping to get out of math class as soon as possible because of the headache I had, but my teacher came in and started handing out a worksheet.  I took a closer look and read,
"Final math exam." My stomach drops, realizing I forgot to study.
Suddenly, I started to feel really nauseated and I guess I looked really sick because I was sent to the nurse's office. As I was running down the hallways, everything started to fade and suddenly everything just went black. That's the story of how I fainted, but got to skip my test.

100 WC Week 15

As Lonely as a Trash Bin

I never knew that a trash can would represent how I felt going to the beach. My friends asked me to go to the beach with them but when we got there, it felt like I didn't belong there. All of them were so energetic, and outgoing. I felt shy and quiet. Trailing behind my friends, I noticed a grey bin filled with trash standing alone while bright bins stood close together.
"I guess he's feeling the same as me." I say, almost sure that I heard him say the same to me.

100 WC Week 14

Cereal Box

My favourite cereal started putting prizes in every box like stickers, but there was one box where you could win a free bike. I was determined to find that box. Later that day my room was filled with cereal boxes, but after going through most of the boxes,I was ready to give up but there was one unopened box.
"Moment of truth." I say to myself as I put my hand in the box and felt a small piece of paper. It revealed a coupon for free milk.
"Great, now all I have is a pile of stickers and a lot of cereal." I said disappointingly.

100 WC Week 13

Crowd Surfing

I never thought crowd surfing would get me to the hospital. I was on stage, lights were flashing, fans were singing, it was breathtaking and it seemed like the perfect time to jump.
The guitarist was doing his solo so I jumped and had the best time of my life.
"3, 2, 1" I said  jumping face first. I could see the floor appearing, I thought they would catch me but the spot just grew and grew. I fell on my stomach and it felt like the floor punched me. I think I'll stay away from crowd surfing for a while.

100 WC Week 10

"Hey Luke. Look at that man. He's like a statue." Michael exclaimed. Michael always said what was on his mind so it didn't bother me until I noticed the man heard him.
"You should apologize." I told him. We walked towards the man  looking as nice as we could but something about him made me feel uncomfortable.
"Sorry about that." Says Michael apologetically.
"It's all right." Says the man smiling.
Suddenly he looked straight into my eyes and in an instant, the man turned Michael and I into statues.  Now, I have to stay standing for the rest of my life.

100 WC Week 9

The Troubles of Being a Superhero

You may think being a superhero is exciting, but it can get tiring. You always have to be alert for the terrors of the city. When you're a superhero you never get to say,
"Time to relax!"
Then there's false alarms. You get dressed and fly around, looking for what's causing trouble. Then when you realize it was a false alarm, you get exhausted and annoyed. So if you ever consider being a superhero, ask yourself,
" Do I really want to wake up in the middle of the night, get dressed, save lives, then repeat that every day or night?"

100 WC Week 8

Waves

When my dad told me and my brother, Ashton, not to go swimming while he got gas, I knew that the rule would most likely be broken. We got bored so I put on some music and Ashton transformed into a dancer. Soon after, we got bored again.
"Ashton go put your green floaties on, we're going swimming." I commanded.
"But dad said no." He said.
"Then I'll go by myself." I said.
He ran to search for his floaties. After he finds them, we run towards the pool then I fell and hit my head. Then I thought, always listen to your parents.

100 WC Week 7

Birthday in the Basement

This year my parents hid my birthday present in the scariest place in the house, the basement. I brought my dog, Calum, with me and a flashlight. Tip toeing down the creaky stairs, I started to regret doing this. Standing in front of the closet door with birthday streamers hung on it, the door opened and there it was, a brand new skateboard. Starring at it with amazement, I started to feel like I was watched then all of a sudden someone grabbed me from behind and my dog barked crazily. I wake up panting like a dog and hear my class laughing at me.

100 WC Week 6

Christmas Eve

It was Christmas eve and my sister dragged me along to check if Santa ate her cookies. Spotting a bizarre figure in the darkness, I immediately turned the lights on. My little sister gasps and she was shocked to see our dad consuming the cookies. My sister fills up with sadness and yells,
"Why would you eat Santa's cookies?"
My dad rushes to comfort her by giving her cookies, which only made her cry even more. Not wanting to be in this crazy situation, I turn around and head back to my room and consider that my dad is on the naughty list.

100 WC Week 5

Bird's Nest

My co-worker had explained his plan to put out a fire and I agreed and tried not to look terrified. The apartment belonged to a woman and her baby.We hurried to the flames and pulled the roof off so water could come in, while the head firefighter carries the mother and baby back down to the asphalt ground. Suddenly my wings got stuck in a bird's nest and two birds came attacking me.  They won and I came home with twigs stabbing me.
"Well at least no one died on my first day." I say laughing.

100 WC Week 4

Movie Theaters

My eyes were glued to the action. Suddenly it looked like black ink overflowed on the screen while credits started playing.
"I hated that movie!" I complained.
" No complaining, I got ice cream." My friend, Ashley said.
We devoured our ice cream while walking to her house. Two hours went by but later that day, I went into panic mode.
"Ashley, I dropped my money during the movie!" I shout.
"I guess the money decided to abandon you." She responds jokingly.
Ashley's dad drives me to the theaters and I run around searching for the money. Let's just say I'm still 10 dollars poor.

100 WC Week 3

Lilac Sky

"Whenever you're ready." My teacher told me.
The feeling of eyes scanning you during public speaking was terrifying. Abruptly I slammed the door behind me, put my earphones on, and ran away from the school. My sneakers slammed against the cement as my favourite song came on and the lyrics floated throughout my head.
"You were red and you liked me 'cause I was blue. But suddenly I was a lilac sky. Then you decided purple wasn't for you."
I stared at the mountains in the distance and noticed it started to rain. Grabbing the hard handle of my umbrella, I unhurriedly walked home.

100 Word Challenge Week 2

The High Dive

"Can I have your things when you die?" My sister asked.
"You wish." I reply.
I walked to the high dive and as I join the queue, my mind was yelling at me not to do it but my feet stayed put. It was my turn to dive or as I would've said my turn to die.
My feet left the board, my eyes closed shut, taking a breath and I land in the water.Opening my eyes I notice a light coming towards me. Suddenly I'm on my back with sunshine beaming into my eyes and waves of water from the pool splashing me.

100 WC Week 1 by Stitch

Cupcake Mountain

Dan and Phil, climbed out of the toy box they lived in and went to get cinnamon sticks, for their mother to bake with, on Cupcake Mountain.
“ Be careful and don't get eaten.” Their mother told them.
They walked to the kitchen and found the mountain. They climbed for hours and survived cinnamon storms and marshmallow avalanches.
“ We can finally rest but don’t forget the cinnamon." Phil said.
“ Phil, look!” Dan yelled.
Standing in front of them was a young girl ready to eat. They quickly took the cinnamon and slid down the mountain, escaping the girl.
